Summer 2013 Work

Hi all! Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for reading my blog throughout my undergraduate years, as I am now transforming into a graduate student! Here are a few projects that I will be working on this summer – blog posts you can look forward to!

  • Since there are a large number of environmental projects and environmental issues being covered in the news right now (the Keystone pipeline, World Environment Day, the terrible allergy season, predictions for the next hurricane season), I will be posting one round-up per week of “hot” (no climate change pun intended) environmental issues. Also, I will have one spotlight story as well.
  • Secondly, I am working on reading books for my journalism masters program in the fall, some of which include Escape from the Ivory Tower: A Guide to Making Your Science Matter and The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2012. These books, among others, will help me learn what it means to communicate science and give me a good basis for my masters project. I will provide book reviews on these books as I finish them.
  • Lastly, I will be working on one last project for the Pennsylvania Earth Science Teacher’s Association’s (PAESTA) Classroom. My project includes writing “One-Minute Stories” about environmental and Earth science so that middle school-aged children can better comprehend environmental issues.

As you can see, I will be very busy with writing, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
