First of all, I am happy to see another day dedicated to the environment! Earth Day is great, but adding World Environment Day is great too.
From now until June 5th, World Environment Day, Budweiser is using a “Grow One, Save a Million” slogan to promote their beard-growing campaign. Anheuser-Busch, Budweiser’s owner, is asking men all over the world to grow a beard until WED in order to save 1 million gallons of water. 1 Million gallons is not a lot in global water crisis terms, but it will certainly help. The Anheuser-Busch company will donate $150,000 to the River Network. This donation will help River Network preserve 12 watersheds in the areas of bottling plants in the United States, including St. Louis Missouri, Columbus Ohio, Houston Texas, and Newark New Jersey.
I think this is a great idea! There are tons of organizations world-wide who are helping globally, but it is refreshing to see such a huge company partner with the River Network and Living Lands and Waters to improve the water infrastructure in the UNited States. Also, I love the fact that they are working towards preserving and restoring the watersheds around rivers. A lot of times, global water crisis groups help out the oceans, aquatic life, and the lives of people in other countries. However, these projects are bettering our society for once.
